Master Cleanse, An Experiment
During my research into fasting, I came across the Master Cleanse diet, it appears to be a very popular one and is considered pretty solid. Most recently it was brought into the media’s attention again by Beyonce giving credit to the cleanse for their getting into shape.
Reports of other’s experiences were very encouraging to me and gave me an idea of what to expect. I contacted a few people about therr experiences with the master cleanser and some did not get past day 2 or 3 which appears to be where most stumble. I’ve fasted in the past and never could last without eating at all as most fasts require. Technically, being a juice fast the lemon juice cleanse does offer some sustenance (the lemonade drink used for the cleanse is also why it is called the lemonade diet by some.)
The Master Cleanse follows a simple routine, however it isn’t exactly easy. Even with so few rules to follow it can be trying due to the will power required to get past the first few days. Though I found a great book that gives lots of tips & advice to make the cayenne pepper diet much, much easier.
One thing touted is the weight loss from the diet but that was never my main concern. I am looking to get the toxin cleansing that it was originally created for. I felt really tired and sluggish lately and enough people have told me how much better they feel after a fast that I went for it once more.
From what I’ve been reading the typical amount of time spent on the master cleanse diet is ten days, although it is not uncommon for people to stay on the cleanse for longer periods of time. I had no intention of going longer than 5 days as a trial run to see how I reacted. Considering I never made it past 2 days before that was quite an accomplishment.
With the secrets book as my guide I was able to look up issues and find answers to questions that enabled me to stick with it. Just from reading it I had much more confidence in my chance of success. That confidence translated into success.
Luckily I went to see my doctor for a check-up recently so the timing was good. I strongly urge anyone interested in trying any kind of fast to speak with their doctor first to make sure everything is OK before diving in.
I fell so much better after the 5 day cleanse that I think I am going to go for the full ten days next time. One suggestion I can offer is to take it easy when trasnitioning back into eating (the secrets book gives excellent guidance on this.)
